October 3, 2025Arrival VFR from the north in a Bonanza on the Coast Route thru LAX Class B. After passing KLAX, SOCAL cleared us to descend and proceed direct to KTOA. Tower helpfully cleared us for a right 360 to assist w descent to pattern altitude for right downwind to runway 29R. Ground Control was useful w description of the transient line at the base of the tower. Rope tiedowns. SOCAL and TOA controllers were very helpful and appreciated as they work without pay during GOP government shutdown.

September 3, 2025BEWARE! I just called the tower and discussed this. I landed 11L. Tower gave me "exit H, contact ground". I exited H, cleared the threshold lines and what I thought was 2 sets of threshold lines. It turns out, due to proximity of the H taxiway to 28L runway, they want you to stop just past the first set of lines. many (including me) get busted for this as this is considered Pilot Deviation and crossing a runway even though H does not cross any runway. No indicators of this safety issue.

APT Lighting Schedule: When atct closed actvt malsr runway 29r - CTAF; mirl runway 11l/29r ss-sr; mirl runway 11r/29l 0600-2000; actvt helipad perimeter lights - 24 hours - CTAF. vasi runway 29l oper consly.
At twys hotel & charlie obs taxiway hold lines. all aircraft must hold between the set of hold bars for the approach zone for runway 11r/29l.
Be alert to psnl & eqpt oprg near all runways and twys.
For cd when atct closed contact socal approach at 800-448-3724.
Fuel Types Available: Fuel available 0700-2000.
Landing fac is fqtly used for med ambulance purposes.
Landing Fee: For ldg fee sked, contact airport or check airport website. mil, pub safety, and med operations shall be exempt from ldg fees.
Noise sensitive area all quads. for noise abatement procs info contact airport noise abatement (310) 784-7950. certain tbjt aircraft permly excldd.
No multi-engine simulated engine-out procs auth in traffic pat. runway 11r/29l closed 2000-0700.
No tgl or stop & go operations pmtd. no low approach or full stop taxi-back pmtd between 1800-1000 mon-fri. no low approach or full stop taxi-back pmtd sat, sun between fri 1800 & mon 1000, or hols. airport closed to dep 2200-0700 wkdays & 2200-0800 wkends & hols.
