Fine airport to visit, with welcoming local pilots and lovely surroundings. Runway is somewhat narrow and is mostly bordered by trees.

This airport can be perilous with crosswinds or high density altitude; best handled as a short field, but better to avoid it completely as there are superior and more secure options close by. Steep approaches into both 14 and 32, possibility for sudden winds emerging from the trees, very bad and uncared-for runway surface, and water/dropoffs on both sides of the runway. Ottawa Executive (Z98), Sparta (8D4), and Grand Rapids (KGRR) are all simpler and more secure to fly in and out of.

Good location to stop near Grand Rapids if you do not wish to deal with Ford International traffic and class C. Asphalt is okay, but not poor. Transient hangars usually accessible. A step back in time private airport with fine personnel and welcoming local pilots.
