October 19, 2025A fine companion and fellow pilot landed his C310 here around 2 years ago to check out the shut restaurant to see if there were indications of reopening. He parked his plane, walked to the closed eatery and looked inside. While doing that, he heard the noise of an aircraft engine turning over. He looked back and saw somebody IN HIS PLANE TRYING TO START AND TAKE IT. Luckily the intended thief left and was not successful. I view L71 as an emergency airport only.

November 16, 2024If the hills had eyes and it was an airport, this would be it. Fuel pumps are INOP, runway has brush growing thru it. Terminal is abandoned and has that eerie Walking Dead feeling. The FBO op mgr at Mojave told me about theft attempts from ramped aircraft. No services, was told apt mgr comes by once a week. It's a strange spot and I wont be going back. Hundreds of hangars! Random business jets. Kinda sad, truly. Im sure it was fine back in the day.

February 9, 2024Fuel pumps would not accept credit card. Tie downs are too brief for high wings at most spots, so bring your own ropes.
