October 21, 2024Even with a good headwind do not suggest attempting to depart rwy 34. Normally aspirated 182J with light load, low DA still had difficulty getting up and out. Needed to abort departure. Trees too close to end of runway. Took off 16 with 12kt tailwind and had no problems. Good condition dirt strip with plenty of room to park, get out and explore.

October 1, 2024Had a few mile an hour tailwind lining up for 34 so decided to check the approach for 16. Needed to do some tight quartered maneuvering around terrain to line up over the trees for 16 and after skimming as close as I could stomach even with flaps and a slip it seemed too tight (for me and my 172 at least). I think for anything but a true STOL aircraft you would need like a 15 plus knot headwind to make landing 16 comfortable. I Took the tailwind on 34 for an uneventful and safe landing.

August 17, 2021Fine strip; reservoir about 1/2 mile walk. Village of Pine 1.25 mi, eatery, pub, camping, and shop, dirt rd due north of windsock will bring you to village without walking on hwy. Hot springs 4-5 mi north. River swimming holes near village/bridge
